What belongs on Phytok, and what we take down.
Phytok is a place to train and to show your training. These rules exist so that stays true. They apply to posts, captions, comments, profiles, handles and recorded activities — everything anyone else can see.
Don't target people. Insults aimed at a person, pile-ons, sexual harassment, threats, and posting someone's private information are all removed.
Criticism of an idea, a method or a programme is fine. Criticism aimed at the person holding it is not.
This is the one area where we act on content that is not aimed at anyone else, because the risk is to the person posting and to whoever reads it.
We remove content that encourages self-harm, suicide or disordered eating: goal weights presented as targets to beat, purging or fasting as methods, calorie limits framed as a challenge, and before/after posts whose point is how little someone ate.
Recovery is welcome here. Talking about having struggled, and about getting better, is not what this rule is for.
No threats, no glorifying violence, no attacks on people for who they are — race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
No content that exploits or endangers a minor, ever. We report it and we ban the account.
Fitness means bodies, and we are not squeamish about them. Gym wear, swimwear, physique photos, posing and progress pictures are all fine.
What is not: exposed genitals, sexual acts, and content whose purpose is sexual rather than athletic. The test is what the post is for, not how much skin is in it.
No sale or promotion of prescription drugs, anabolic steroids, SARMs, unapproved peptides, weapons, or illegal substances — including "where to source" posts and coded referrals.
Ordinary supplements and coaching services are fine, subject to the health-advice rule below.
Advice that could hurt someone who follows it gets removed: extreme restriction presented as a plan, dangerous drug protocols, "cures" for medical conditions, and claims that discourage people from getting real treatment.
Disagreeing with mainstream nutrition or training advice is not a violation. Telling people to do something that will injure them is.
No fake giveaways, no fake coaching businesses, no crypto or investment pitches, no engagement farming, and no bulk posting of the same content.
Selling your own genuine coaching, plan or product is allowed. Pretending to sell one is not.
Don't present yourself as someone you are not — another person, a brand, a gym, or Phytok itself.
Fan accounts, parody and commentary are fine when the profile makes plainly clear it is not the real person.
Recorded activities are supposed to be things you did. Don't submit a drive as a run, replay someone else's route, or edit a workout to claim a result you didn't achieve.
Our checks flag activities that aren't physically plausible. A flagged activity stays on your profile — it just doesn't count towards records, streaks or anything public.
Post what is yours, or what you have permission to use. That covers video, photos, music and written plans.
Copyright claims run through a separate legal process — see our copyright page — and they are handled differently from the guidelines on this page.
When something is removed we tell you which of the guidelines above it breached, and you can appeal. An appeal is read by a different person from the one who made the original decision.
Repeated breaches lead to a temporary posting block and then to a permanent one. We will always tell you which stage you are at — you can see it at any time under Settings → Privacy & safety → Account status.
Tap the ••• menu on any post, comment or profile. Reports are anonymous: the person is never told who reported them. We will tell you when your report has been reviewed, but not what action was taken on someone else's account.
